The media can't win against "The Passion."

They just can't win. The media has tried to ignore it, tried to make fun of it and has now reached the end of its rope.

After incorrectly predicting that Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" would flop, various media tried to denounce the film as anti-Semitic. When they realized that Jesus himself was a Jew, they reformed their battle plans and denounced the movie as violent. (Ironically, these were often the same people who kept quiet during "Roots," "Saving Private Ryan" and "Schindler's List.") Finally, when all else failed, Union-Tribune writer Sandi Dolbee decided she'd nitpick at the scene of a crow that lands on top of the cross during the crucifixion as historically unproved. Oh yes, and Satan was smooth-shaven . . . Dolbee is very concerned about that.

The relentless attacks on the film and the increasingly bizarre arguments Dolbee and other media have used, seems as desperate as kamikaze pilots who knew they were fighting a losing war.

Admit it. "The Passion" wins. You, your predictions and arguments lose.
